GRIPS (Graduate-level Research in Industrial Projects for Students)-Sendai program was held last summer (June 18 - Aug. 10, 2018) with the support of iTHEMS as well as other institutions and companies. Two industrial projects were launched under the suggestion of TOYOTA and NEC, and two teams composed of US and Japanese students have worked intensively to find solutions of these problems. See for the details of the GRIPS program and the summary of activities at GRIPS-Sendai 2018.
This year, GRIPS-Sendai program will be held from June 17 through Aug. 9, 2019 with a larger scale under the support of iTHEMS. Stay tuned for further information.
アカデミックメンター募集
g-RIPS(Graduate-Level Research in Industrial Projects for Students)プログラムは、大学院生が4名1組の国際チーム（今回は日米混成）を組んで、企業から提示される数理課題に8週間挑戦するというもので、これまで、UCLA, Singapore, Berlin, Sendaiで行われています。
2018年度のg-RIPS Sendaiに引き続き、2019年度も東北大学AIMR内で6/17-8/9に開催されます。iTHEMSはその共催機関です。
今年度は、上記web pageにあるように、TOYOTA, Fujitsu, NECが参画し、次世代モビリティサービス、量子計算アルゴリズム、などの課題で4チームが構成される予定です。
Graduate-level Research in Industrial Projects for Students (GRIPS) – Sendai 2019
さて、g-RIPSでは、各チームに1名ないし2名のアカデミックメンターを配置します。各メンターは、東北大学AIMRに4週間（半期担当の場合）ないし8週間（全期担当の場合）滞在し、1日1時間程度、担当チームの相談にのります。問題解決は、あくまでチームの学生達がおこなうので、メンターはチャレンジテーマに関する予備知識は不要で、主要な仕事は、課題解決に向けての方針やまとめ方について適宜相談にのることです。
それ以外の時間は、iTHEMSの SUURI-COOL (Sendai) において、自らの研究を進めるとともに、AIMRの数学連携グループと数理科学・理論科学の研究交流を行うことができます。仙台往復旅費と滞在費はiTHEMSが、g-RIPSの業務については東北大学の非常勤講師として、一日1時間相当の謝金が支払われます。博士号をお持ちで、このような企業連携型数理チャレンジのアカデミックメンターに興味があるは、iTHEMS側担当の初田まで4月中にお知らせ下さい。希望者多数の場合は、こちらで調整させて頂くことになりますのでご了承ください。
