José Said Gutiérrez-Ortega 研究員が、第19回 Plant Species Biology 論文賞（Plant Species Biology Paper Award）を受賞しました。本研究は、奄美大島におけるソテツの生物文化遺産に対する脅威を多角的に解析した国際共同研究です。Plant Species Biology 論文賞は、同誌に掲載された論文の中から、編集委員会の投票により毎年 1～2 編が選ばれるものです。今年の受賞発表は 2025年11月18日 に行われ、授賞式は 2025年12月20日（土） に種生物学会の会合にて実施されます。

永井智哉コーディネーターが、志田 あやか（TRIP）、佐藤 桃子（IMS）、佐久間 弘子（広報部）とともに、第29回 異分野交流の夕べ ポスター賞を受賞しました。本ポスター賞は、異なる専門分野の研究者間の交流促進を目的とした「異分野交流の夕べ」において、59件のポスター発表の中から、特に優れた発表に贈られました。毎年5件程度が選出されます。永井コーディネーターらの発表は、研究者によるプレスリリース作成の意識や実態を調査したもので、理研での活動成果を含む内容として高く評価されました。

小野 清志郎 iTHEMS客員研究員（東京大学 助教）が、日本物理学会が主催する「日本物理学会若手奨励賞（領域4）」を受賞しました。対象となった研究業績は「対称性指標によるトポロジカル超伝導相の分類」です。本賞は、将来の物理学を担う優秀な若手研究者を奨励する目的で、37歳以下の若手研究者に授与されるものです。小野客員研究員は、トポロジカル物質に関する独創的かつ先駆的な理論研究が高く評価されました。 おめでとうございます。

小澤知己客員研究員が「第15回フロンティアサロン永瀬賞 特別賞」を受賞
東北大学 材料科学高等研究所（WPI-AIMR）の小澤知己教授（iTHEMS客員研究員）が、一般財団法人フロンティアサロン財団より「第15回 フロンティアサロン永瀬賞 特別賞」を受賞しました。この賞は、将来のノーベル賞候補とも期待される若手研究者を顕彰し、未来を拓く科学技術分野での顕著な成果をたたえるものです。 小澤教授は、物質の性質やその振る舞いを理解する「物性物理学」分野で国際的に活躍する理論物理学者です。トポロジー（位相幾何学）という“形”に注目する数学的な考え方を応用し、金属や気体、光、音波、さらには生体構造など、さまざまな物理系に共通する法則を見出してきました。最近では、高次元トポロジーの理論的拡張を通じて光や電子の新しい量子状態の研究を進めており、これらの成果は量子コンピュータや次世代光デバイスなどへの応用が期待されています。 受賞を記念して、2025年9月26日には全国の高校生を対象とした「サイエンスセミナー」にて「トポロジーが拓く物理の地平 ～物質と次元を超えて～」と題した特別講義を行いました。講演では、トポロジーがもたらす“形の物理学”の魅力を紹介し、次世代を担う若い世代に科学の面白さを伝えました。

三好建正チームディレクターが国立コルドバ大学より「名誉招聘者（Visitante Distinguido）」の称号を授与
2025年9月4日、理化学研究所 開拓研究本部 iTHEMSの三好建正チームディレクターが、アルゼンチンの国立コルドバ大学（Universidad Nacional de Córdoba）より「名誉招聘者（Visitante Distinguido）」の称号を授与されました。 本表彰は、三好チームディレクターがこれまでに果たしてきた気候防災分野への顕著な貢献を高く評価したものです。三好チームは、国際科学技術協力プログラム（SATREPS）の研究課題「PREVENIR（気象災害に脆弱な人口密集地域のための数値天気予報と防災情報提供システムのプロジェクト）」を主導し、都市型洪水の早期警戒システムの開発を進めています。 このプロジェクトでは、スーパーコンピュータ「京」や「富岳」で培われた最先端の数値シミュレーション技術やデータサイエンスを駆使し、アルゼンチンの大都市ブエノスアイレスおよびコルドバでの社会実装を目指しています。また、実践的な教育の場の提供を通じて、アルゼンチンをはじめとする国際的な協力体制の強化にも寄与しています。

Kenji Fukaya Wins 2025 Shaw Prize in Mathematical Sciences
Our iTHEMS former colleague, Kenji Fukaya, has been awarded the 2025 Shaw Prize in Mathematical Sciences" for his pioneering work on symplectic geometry, especially for envisioning the existence of a category — nowadays called the Fukaya category — consisting of Lagrangians on a symplectic manifold, for leading the monumental task of constructing it, and for his subsequent ground-breaking and impactful contributions to symplectic topology, mirror symmetry, and gauge theory.” Congratulations, Kenji!

Dr. Euki Yazaki received "2020 The Encouragement Award for Young Protistologists"
It is our great pleasure to inform you that our iTHEMS colleague, Euki Yazaki received "2020 The Encouragement Award for Young Protistologists" (日本原生生物学会奨励賞) from "Japan Society of Protistology (日本原生生物学会) for "Revealing of the evolution and diversity of eukaryotes through large-scale sequence data analyses" (大規模配列データ解析による真核生物の進化・多様性の解明). The award ceremony was held at Japan Society of Protistology Meeting on Nov.22-23, 2020. Many congratulations, Euki !

Ceremony for RIKEN President's Certificates of Appreciation via online
Dr. Y. Kubota, Dr. R. Iritani and Dr. T. Okada received RIKEN President's certificates of appreciation from Dr. Shigeo Koyasu (RIKEN Executive Director) via online on October 22. These certificates are for 2020 Takebe Katahiro Prize for Encouragement of Young Researchers from The Mathematical Society of Japan (Dr. Kubota) and for 15th Young Scientist Award from Japanese Society for Mathematical Biology (Dr. Iritani and Dr. Okada).
