This study group brings together researchers interested in human and animal social behaviors from diverse fields, including physics, mathematics, biology, economics, and the social sciences.

Objectives

Our main objective is to foster “weak ties” across disciplines and to facilitate the exchange of ideas that can deepen our understanding of the mechanisms underlying social behavior.

Because game theory is an important tool for analyzing strategic interaction, we will begin with a short series of introductory lectures on game theory to establish a common language and core models. We will then transition to seminars and journal clubs where members present research and discuss topics related to social behavior. Meetings will be held every 2–3 weeks and are designed to be accessible to a wide range of participants, including those without prior expertise in the field.

The group is not intended solely for established experts seeking collaborations, but rather as a platform where non-experts can engage, explore unexpected connections, and discover new research directions.
