The Math Study Group provides a platform for learning, discussion, and collaboration in mathematics at iTHEMS, promoting mathematics as a common language that connects diverse research areas.

Objectives

The Math Study Group aims to strengthen the mathematical culture of iTHEMS by fostering an open and collaborative environment where researchers from diverse backgrounds can engage with mathematical ideas, communicate across disciplines, and explore new research directions.

To achieve this, the group organizes a range of activities including seminars, lecture series, and focused learning sessions, structured around different levels:

  • Introductory
Accessible sessions covering fundamental concepts such as calculus, linear algebra, and related topics, supporting participants who wish to build or refresh their mathematical foundation.
  • Interdisciplinary
Activities exploring interactions between mathematics and other fields such as physics, biology, computer science, and related areas, encouraging cross-disciplinary dialogue and collaboration.
  • Advanced
Specialized topics and recent developments aimed at researchers with graduate-level or higher expertise in mathematics and closely related areas.

These categories are intended as a flexible framework rather than rigid divisions, allowing activities to combine accessibility and depth. Through these efforts, the Math Study Group seeks to enhance intellectual exchange within iTHEMS, lower barriers between disciplines, and contribute to the broader scientific community.
