iTHEMS-ABBL Joint Astro Study Group
The purpose of this SG is to foster collaboration between ABBL and iTHEMS through regular joint seminars and meetings on astrophysics, enhancing interaction, visibility, and academic exchange.
Objectives
This proposal is to position the ongoing ABBL-iTHEMS Joint Astro Seminar and ABBL Meetings as an official SG under iTHEMS. ABBL stands for Astrophysical Big Bang Laboratory under PRI, RIKEN.
The proposed activities are as follows:
- Hold the ABBL-iTHEMS Joint Astro Seminar approximately once a month. Honoraria (and transportation costs if necessary) for external speakers will be provided from the SG budget.
- Rebrand the biweekly Friday ABBL Meeting (focused on Supernovae-Supernova Remnants, and High-Energy Astrophysics) as the ABBL-iTHEMS Joint Astro Meeting (Supernovae-Supernova Remnants, and High-Energy Astrophysics). Schedule
So far, ABBL members have been required to attend both activities, while iTHEMS members' participation has been optional. We would like to maintain this policy moving forward.
Here are some potential benefits of establishing this SG:
- It will help promote interaction between ABBL members and iTHEMS astrophysic s members. The SG is open even to non-experts, so that other iTHEMS members can feel free to join and take part in its activities.
- SG members will be able to recommend speakers for the ABBL- iTHEMS Joint Astro Seminar.
Honoraria (and transportation costs if necessary) for those speakers will be covered by the SG budget. - By establishing this SG, the activity schedules of iTHEMS and ABBL will become more visible to each other, which we hope will help avoid accidental scheduling conflicts that have occasionally occurred in the past.
