iTHEMS Theoretical Physics Seminar by Masashi Kawahira on September 24, 2026

In this seminar, we discussed whether analogues of 7-branes in type IIB superstring theory can exist in type 0B string theory, a non-supersymmetric counterpart of type IIB theory. Based on the recently proposed self-duality group of type 0B string theory by Baykara, Dudas, and Vafa, the possible existence and properties of such objects were investigated. The talk also stimulated discussion on duality and the interpretation of branes in non-supersymmetric string theory.
